Favorite Thing #3
When it DOESN'T snow on April 24th. There should be some law against having snow falling from the sky this late in the year. At least, there is going to be a new episode of The Office on tonight. Brad and I can stay home and cuddle up by the fire! (Which is nice in December but lame in mid-April.)![]()

"Who has teeth?"
Recently, Camille and I have taken to reading THE TOOTH BOOK
almost daily. I was sure Mil was starting to work on some teeth and I figured she needed some education about her soon to be pearly whites. It's a good thing too because yesterday a tooth came through.
Some important lessons we learned from this book:
-Teeth make it possible to eat yummy things.
"Clams have no teeth," says Pam the clam. "I cannot eat hot dogs or ham." "No teeth at all," says Pam the clam. "I cannot eat roast leg of lamb. Or peanuts! Pizzas! Popcorn! SPAM! Not even huckleberry jam!"
-We need to take care of our teeth.
"and...don't be dumb like Mr. Glotz. Don't break your teeth untying knots! And don't be dumb like Katy Klopps. Don't try to chew off bottle tops!"
To top it all off Mil accompanied me to the dentist today so I could have a filling fixed. She thought the dentist looked silly with the mask on his face. I reminded her, "And never bite your dentist when he works inside your head. Your dentist is your teeth's best friend. Bite carrot sticks instead!"

Sticks and Stones may break my bones....
It's amazing what a little competiton can do to people. Yesterday, Easter Sunday, we were at my parents house playing a friendly game of dominos when my mother, yes my mother, called me a name I'd never heard before. "YOU ROTTEN, TROTTEN, DISCONNECTED SEWER PIPE!" When asked were she learned such language she replied, "School." I won't do the math for you but it's been many years since this eighteen time grandma attended elementry school. Being an educator, I guess it's nice to see that some of our early education always stays with us. For all you that are wondering, she ended up winning the game.

Come out come out wherever you are...
I think Millie didn't want to do her chores so she thought she could "hide".

My favorite things, round one...
Inspired by Julie Andrews and her singing of "My Favorite Things" in one of the best musicals ever, Sound of Music, I decided it would be fun to periodically post some of my favorite things. That way if your having one of those days where the dog bites or the bee stings then you can read my post and not feel soooooo bad...This is the view from my front window. I love watching the herd of cows that lives across the street. I couldn't ask for better neighbors. It's quite enjoyable to watch them throughout the day. They are like my pets. You might be thinking..."How can cows be your pets?" Well, the same way that fish are pets. Fish are watched from behind glass, I watch the cows from my front window. Fish live in their own filth, cows do likewise. However, there is an advantage to the cows. I don't have to feed them or clean their "tank", and if I feel so inclined, it's okay to pet them. Fish, on the other hand, don't do well when they are petted. (Yes, experience can be a valuable teacher.) These cows have turned out to be the perfect pets in an otherwise petless house. I get a simple pleasure from "my" cows and am sad when they take their summer vacation up to the range land.
