My favorite things, round one...

Inspired by Julie Andrews and her singing of "My Favorite Things" in one of the best musicals ever, Sound of Music, I decided it would be fun to periodically post some of my favorite things. That way if your having one of those days where the dog bites or the bee stings then you can read my post and not feel soooooo bad...

This is the view from my front window. I love watching the herd of cows that lives across the street. I couldn't ask for better neighbors. It's quite enjoyable to watch them throughout the day. They are like my pets. You might be thinking..."How can cows be your pets?" Well, the same way that fish are pets. Fish are watched from behind glass, I watch the cows from my front window. Fish live in their own filth, cows do likewise. However, there is an advantage to the cows. I don't have to feed them or clean their "tank", and if I feel so inclined, it's okay to pet them. Fish, on the other hand, don't do well when they are petted. (Yes, experience can be a valuable teacher.) These cows have turned out to be the perfect pets in an otherwise petless house. I get a simple pleasure from "my" cows and am sad when they take their summer vacation up to the range land.

I don't think I've ever seen The Sound of Music all the way through...

I felt that way when we lived in Archer. Cows are nice. And not too loud.

p.s. I read "The Second Sun" and all of the other ones and they scared me! I was like, "Stop giving ideas to terrorists, man!"
